synopsis
For more than 15 years Vivienne Deane was at the top of Montreal's jazz scene. She sang with the city's most talented musicians - Oliver Jones and Vic Vogel among them - and played in the hottest clubs.áBut well into her career, Vivienne's real path grew clear - one lit by spirituality and conviction, but also one with a steeper road to success: gospel music.A single mother in tight financial times, a lack of cash is Vivienne's main obstacle to accomplishingáher dream of recording a gospel album. And when arts councils tell her it's not in their mandate to fund religious music, her quest seems just about impossible.Gospel according to Vivienne takes you soaring with Vivienne's voice and drops you square in the middle of her artistic mission: to get her Gospel recorded and to send it out into the world.
