After a long search for the perfect man, Mónica believes that she has finally found him in Pablo, a young university professor who has travelled across the country to meet her.
Rubén Prieto Fernández was born in Palma de Mallorca (Balear Islands of Spain) on September 25th, 1974. At the age of two, he and his family moved to Mérida. After another move, this time to Ciudad Real, Rubén began his studies at the University of Ciudad Real, majoring in English Philology. After completing his degree in Ciudad Real, he went on to study a three-year programme at the TAI School of Arts and Entertainment, in Madrid, where he received his degree in Script Writing for Film and Television. During his first years in the professional world, he worked on documentaries and other television productions, until he debuted as director in 2003 with his short film "Vasectomía" ("Vasectomy"), a family drama which won awards in several film festivals. Two years later he directed another short film, "La Casa del Lago" ("The House on the Lake"). The following year he worked as video technician in the feature film "El Hombre de Arena" ("The Sand Man"), directed by José Manuel Gonzaléz. He went behind the camera again for two more productions: the first, his short film "Una Historia de Amor" ("A Love Story"), a romantic drama produced in 2007; the second, a collective short film, "Tranquilo" ("Quiet") codirected with Álex Pachón, Félix Méndez and Rubén González. In 2009 he worked as script in the feature film "La Luna Ciega" ("The Blind Moon"), directed by Pablo Nacarino. In 2010, he wrote and directed a new short film, "Regeneración" ("Regeneration"). With this family drama, shot in black and white, he received the Premio Extremadura a la Creación a la Mejor Obra Artística de Autor Extremeño 2010 (2010 Extremadura Creation Award for Best Artistic Work by an Extremadurian Author), as well as several awards and nominations in both national and international film festivals. "El Hombre Ideal" ("The Perfect Man") is his fifth short film as director.
