Jake Alexander McAfee was born in Detroit, Michigan. As a child he spent his Saturday afternoons sitting in Detroit movie theaters catching double feature films. Usually a Godzilla film followed by a martial arts film featuring Bruce Lee. His parents kept him immersed in the arts as a child and enrolled him into flight school at the age of 15 years old. With the urging of his art teachers at Detroit's Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Jake attended Detroit's College for Creative Studies, Young Artist Program with a focus on photography. After being awarded an internship and eventually a job as a camera technicians he found himself learning and operating the most advanced motion picture camera's for film production and started shooting his own personal projects whenever his employers camera gear was available for him to borrow. Upon moving to New York City to pursue a career in film making Jake met and started working for director Spike Lee on a variety of different projects. Working on the set of Spike's feature film "Inside Man" compelled him to focus his talents on narrative film making and created the successful short film titled "The Commute" for Good will Industries in 2014 and followed that short with another short film for Goodwill Industries titled "2ND LiFE" which was just as successful as his 1st for the non-profit serving it's community. 2nd LiFE has screened on national te levision and numerous film festivals and counting. The short has also been awarded the HBO Best Short Film Award for 2015 and in 2016 has qualified for an Academy Award consideration for Best Live Action Short Film. 2nd LiFE caught the attention of Academy Award winning director Ron Howard who then introduced Jake to Radical Media's chairman Jon Kamen and President Justin Wilkes. Upon meeting with Radical Media Jake was invited to join the top tier, global studio where he's currently focused on creating feature films, branded content and of course, thought provoking short films.
