synopsis
A series of Interviews with Sergei Eisenstein and Bertolt Brecht about their experiences in Hollywood. The film was shot in contemporary locations in Los Angeles that were important to these men. The actors are young boys whose naivety and enthusiasm captures the spirit of these radical artists and invites us to re-imagine their ideas for today.
director
Zoe Beloff (1958, Edinburgh) works with a wide range of media including film, projection performance, installation, and drawing. Each project aims to reanimate the past so that it might illuminate the future in new ways. She lives in New York and shows her work internationally, primarily in galleries and museums. "Two Marxists" is part of an ongoing series she is working on about radical films that were proposed but never made.
