synopsis Intrepid members of The Long Island City Boathouse Boathouse navigate the East River under cover of darkness. The LIC Boathouse is a community organization supported by Partnerships for Parks which operates out of a warehouse behind the Pepsi-Cola sign. Members navigate New York's waterways and guide paddlers to vantage locations where they gain unusual perspective on the skyline and urban life.
director Adrian Sas is a documentary filmmaker interested in the connection between people and place. She created the long-running series "It's My Park" for public television. Now in its eighth season, the show explores the urban landscape and the people who enrich it by engaging with public space and community. Adrian was born and raised in New York City. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in film studies from Columbia University and a Masters of Arts in urban studies from Manchester Metropolitan University (United Kingdom) and Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture of Helsinki (Finland). Her work is broadcast on public television in New York. It has been screened internationally at The Jackie Clarke Collection in County Mayo, Ireland and domestically at the BMW Guggenheim Lab. Adrian's short form documentaries have also appeared on the Yankee Stadium Jumbotron, HBO, NYC Taxi Cabs, and on numerous blogs including the New York Times Cityroom. Alumni Filmography
