synopsis
Chronicle of a Death Postponed explores the observations and routines of a physically challenged man during a long and difficult illness as he fights to reclaim his life. Richard Millen's moving and sometimes funny autobiographical account of everyday life in his Brooklyn apartment documents his insights and meditations, the consolations of art, and the surprises of creativity.

director
Richard Millen has appeared in numerous theater productions at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, New York Theatre Workshop and the Actors Studio. Among his recent films are La Playa (Dir.Virginia Urreizieta,) and the forthcoming Festus (Dir. Shawn Snyder) and Infinity Guys (Dir. Jeffrey Bllss). He was a public middle school teacher of French in Brooklyn for 20 years. Chronicle of a Death Postponed is his first film.
Filmography

filmmaker's note
Film has always been a passion of mine. But it wasn't until illness cut me off from the life I'd known that I finally turned on my video camera. Confined to my third-floor walk-up in Brooklyn for several years, I began to translate the troubles and mysteries of my newly limited world into art. Recording in short segments - five minutes or less - I documented memories, events, hopes and fears, and everyday details of my predicament: visits from nurses and physical therapists, changes in weather, the frustrations and discoveries of solitude. This work, its evolution and assembly, became a practice of devotion for me. It has yielded, I hope, a distillation of what I have endured and what I have reclaimed.
