 | FACES OF HEALTH CARE | NY Premiere |
synopsis The current health care reform debate has generated a significant amount of confusion in the minds of the American people. On top of this, various interest groups from the pharmaceutical, insurance and health care providers have contributed mixed messages to muddy the water. Worst, politicians, in their desire to score short-term gains, have inspired hatred , partisanship and vitriol that has only exacerbated the problem. In the end, the Americans who are meant to be helped by this reform have been forgotten. These are people who are members of our community and stand to benefit with the overhaul of the health care system. It seems that their voices have not been heard, to some extent, they've been muffled. The purpose of this film is to put these Americans front and center of this issue. The idea is that all of us should see past the rhetoric, the media hype, the political spin and the bipartisanship and understand the real issue -- equal and fair access to health care services for all Americans. Health care reform is about social justice and human dignity -- these are American core values.
