New York-based filmmaker Sherif Sadek takes his family to Cairo in January 2012. He is determined to see for himself the challenges that lie ahead on the road to democracy. He travels throughout Cairo, from Liberation Square to the inside of a cab, from slums to demonstrations, from social workers to political activists, from downtown to the pyramids on the outskirts, and discusses the future of the country as it struggles. But not only the future, but also the major events of the previous years, as a way to understand how the country arrived at the state it was in, one year later.
director Sherif Sadek is an Egyptian American filmmaker who lives in Jackson Heights, NY. From Queens to Cairo is Sherif's first feature Doc.
