synopsis A visual poem about a despondent woman who lies curled up on her bathroom floor, unable to rouse herself. She hears an echo of a laugh and searches the mirror, finding an image of her younger self. A tentative 'hello' beckons her outside. Will she finally get up off the floor?
director Kim Cummings wrote and directed the award-winning short film WEEKI WACHEE GIRLS, which has played in over seventy festivals around the world since 2000. It picked up three "Best of" awards and was a finalist for best short film at Taos in 2000. WEEKI WACHEE GIRLS was picked up by KQED, San Fransciso's PBS station and NY Metro channels and is distributed by Buskfilms.com. FLOWER OF A GIRL is her second film. It premiered at the Staten Island Film Festival and has played in various festivals on the East Coast. Cummings is currently in post-production on two projects: a short entitled THAT'S WHAT SHE TOLD ME and her first feature film, IN MONTAUK, for which she was awarded post-production funds from the Long Island Film Foundation and Queens Council on the Arts.
