synopsis Naoki gave up his dream of painting to take over the family-run post office. His older brother, Masanobu, left home to become a doctor. When their mother's funeral brings the two brothers together again, they are forced to confront their old conflicts and resentments.
director Toshimichi Saito was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. After receiving a BA in Economics, he moved to New York to pursue an MFA in Filmmaking at New York University's Graduate Film Program. His NYU thesis ‘A Warm Spell' has been awarded the Grand Prix at New Directors Film Festival in Tokyo, Best National Short at Sapporo Short Fest, Semi-Grand Prix at Japan Association of Audiovisual Producers Awards and Best Actor Awards at both Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Mito Short Film Festival. The film has screened at 25 festivals in 11 countries so far, including Raindance and Clermont-Ferrand and won 14 awards. After working for Spike Lee as an assistant editor, Toshimichi returned to Japan in 2014. He is currently working on a feature version of ‘A Warm Spell.' Website Filmography
