synopsis At the end of Washington Boulevard, where Los Angeles' streets merge into the ocean, the Venice Pier begins. The rough concrete pier braves Pacific storms and provides stillness and stablity to its visitors. Here, we meet two immigrants who take us on their journey through history.
director Born in 1983, Nora Fingscheidt grew up in Germany and Argentina. She worked for film festivals such as Berlinale and International Short Film Festival Interfilm Berlin. Later Nora became board member of the self-organized film school filmArche e.V. with which she organized international youth projects and directed three shorts. In 2007 she was trained as an acting coach under Sigrid Andersson. The following year she began her studies in film directing at Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. Her film school short film SYNCOPE was nominated for the German Short Film Award 2011. In 2012 she received a scholarship to participate in a film-studies exchange program at UCLA in Los Angeles. BOULEVARD'S END, shot in Venice Beach, has played in more than 40 festivals, its U.S. premiere took place at the 46th New Directors/New Films. WITHOUT THIS WORLD was her diploma film. At the moment she is in pre-production for SYSTEM CRASHER, a project she has spent the past three years researching and developing.
