synopsis
In 2015 an interracial couple remembers their courtship and marriage two years before the US Supreme Court ruled the ban on interracial marriage unconstitutional in 1967. Through their present day recounting of memories, portraits emerge of a woman who needs to remember, a man who lives in the present, and a couple whose love beat the odds to be together for fifty years and still counting.

Lisa Tan was born in central New Jersey, the daughter of two non political people who committed a major political act by falling in love with each other. "Over Oceans" is a tribute to their strength of character and determination to see love through in a time when interracial relationships were not widely accepted. Lisa has a B.A. in Television and Film from Syracuse University and a Masters in Media from The New School. Using as many skills as she could garner from this education she produced, shot, edited and created the graphics for this short documentary.
