Gerry Mooney has been an illustrator and cartoonist for his entire career, doing magazine illustration in the NY market for more than two decades until the mid-90s. He started dabbling in animation around 2000. His first Flash animation, “Sister Mary Dracula”, was an official entry in the 2004 San Diego Comicon’s Independent Film Festival. This exposure led to the creation of the 110-page graphic novel of the same name, self-published and available on Amazon.
He then moved into cg animation, creating a music video for Singapore-based musician Shawn Letts based on his song “Cicak”. He also created a series of Christmas animations for the company that employed him, and for eight years had fun with these annual projects. They can be viewed on his website, www.mooneyart.com . In that same period he also created more technical animations in various media, from Flash to cg to Powerpoint, designed for courtroom presentation in litigation matters.
In 2015 his short musical animation. “Sexy Texie”, was an official entry in seven film festivals around the country, and placed second in the animation category in The Desert Rocks Film and Music Event in Hesperia, CA.
“Martini Bombini O’Feeney Moonay”, his current offering, is drawn entirely In pencil and paper and is inspired by his four older brothers who were constantly rebuilding engines, doing brake jobs, modifying hot rods and restoring antique cars.
Born and raised on Long Island, Gerry currently resides in Tulsa, OK, with his wife, playwright Vicki Lynn Mooney.
